YouTube Artists free music giveaways

YTA has scoured the sites of YouTube Artists looking for free music giveaways. The findings can be found here.

Why do YouTube Artists give away music?

The answer is, for all kinds of reasons. They might of spent hundreds or even thousands getting music put together, and ideally would then recuperate the costs by selling it. This isn't always so easy though. So another option is to give it away in the hope of word spreading and helping to get their name out there.

Newly added artist on YTA - Hailey Knox

17 year old Hailey Knox is from New York, USA.

After checking all of her about sections on her sites I couldn't find anything to write here about her.

So I'll have to write about how amazing she is to watch and listen to, she has something about her that is just so soothing and mesmerising.

I look forward to many more covers from her as time goes on, and maybe even some originals.

Mariel - The second new artist to be added to YTA today

Mariel is from Massachusetts, USA and has been performing and recording since the age of nine.

Mariel has performed at "Back to School events", festivals and at the "Curefest for Cancer" in Washington, D.C.

In the spring of 2016, Mariel will be releasing an EP that she has just finished working on with Multi-Platinum and Multi-Grammy Award Winning producer Michael Mangini and Multi-Platinum Emmy Award winning producer Peter Zizzo.

Shayna Leigh - Newly added artist on YTA

Shayna Leigh, originally from Orlando but now residing in New York is a singer/songwriter who discovered singing as a child when commercial work as a child actor led to musical theatre.

In July 2015 Shayna released her 10 track album entitled "Drive". Shayna also released 2 EP's prior to releasing Drive.

I was particularly drawn to Shayna and her music when I watched her excellently filmed and produced video for "Typhoon", which is one of the tracks taken from the Drive album.

If you have never listened to Shayna sing before now, then I am sure her unique voice will capture your attention and make you yearn for more.

YouTube Artists' 2015 Christmas playlist song listing

With just under a week to go until Christmas day, the YouTube Artists' 2015 Christmas playlist is growing slowly but steadily.
This always seems to be the case, and the next week should see lots more videos get added.

Listed below are the current artists and their songs that have been added to the playlist.

Previous years playlists can be found at the bottom of this post, so if you are in need of a really big Christmas music fix then go check them out too.

YouTube Artists' 2015 Christmas playlist

Whilst the featured video will normally be a video of my choosing, depending on what has been uploaded that day or in previous days, the featured video for the rest of December 2015 will actually be a playlist of Christmas videos.

The videos will normally be added within a few hours of them being uploaded and the most recently uploaded (published) one will be the one that gets displayed as the featured video.

Google+ and Google Play Music

A lot of artists are not using these to their full potential.

You get a Google+ page with your YouTube channel, so why not put it to good use?

You don't have to sign up for it as you already have it. You just need to make it look good by adding information, all your links, a profile pic and a cover pic.

More and more people are now using Google+.

Artists, fans, promoters and casual internet surfers regularly get on there and network, so make sure you don't get left behind. Get on there too.

Latest additions on the new look YouTube Artists site - Connie Talbot, Jillian Jensen, Tori Hathaway, Rebecca Perl & Karo Maj

YouTube Artists is pleased to announce new additions to the site.

Connie Talbot is from the Midlands in the UK and appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2007 and hasn't looked back since. Continually recording and performing, this girl seems to go from strength to strength.

Jillian Jensen is from Boston, Massachusetts and appeared on X-Factor in 2012. Jillian plays an amazing amount of instruments, namely the guitar, piano, saxophone, violin, drums, bass and Ukulele.

Tori Hathaway is from Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Tori produced a two-hour live variety show featuring her own original music and raised $10,000 for Habitat for Humanity-Huronia when she was 13 years old.

We also have Rebecca Perl, who is from Long Island, New York and Karo Maj from Poland.

Create a custom Facebook page web address

Whilst most sites let you create a custom link at the same time that you choose your username when you sign up such as facebook.com/jamiejonessinger or twitter.com/jamiejonessinger, this wasn't always the case with Facebook.

If you created an artist/band page on Facebook back in the days when you couldn't immediately create a memorable page web address then yours might still be in need of changing now.

Choosing usernames wisely

When creating your artist/band pages, a little consistency is always nice and keeps things looking more professional.

Instead of having:

facebook.com/jamiethesinger twitter.com/jamiejones youtube.com/jamiejonessings and reverbnation.com/singingjamiejones

Try to think of a username that can be the same on all the sites. This might not always be possible if you have a popular name, so little changes might have to be accepted, but try to keep these changes small.

First new addition on the new look YouTube Artists site - Caroline Dare

YouTube Artists would like to offer Caroline Dare a warm welcome as she becomes the first new addition to the new look site.

Caroline is a 14 year old singer/songwriter from North Carolina and she uploads a steady stream of videos to YouTube

The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) have recognized her as being "One to Watch", Taylor Guitars featured her as the "Player of the Week" in April 2015 and she will be part of the 2016 cast for the NC Country Music Showcase series.

I think it's safe to say Caroline won't be disappearing from our screens any time soon and that we can continue to see a steady flow of videos arriving on YouTube from her.

Welcome to the YouTube Artists relaunch

YouTube Artists has undergone a major transformation for this relaunch.

Whilst it may look like it has just changed cosmetically, it is actually a lot bigger than that.

The whole site is now built on an entirely new platform, which will result in a more informative experience for visitors.

The changes will also allow for better promotion of listed artists.

Another new addition to the site is Google+ links and Google Play Music links for artists that are on those platforms. This makes a lot of sense with Google now taking an ever increasing chunk of the music market.
